Door doesn’t close and latch on its own
The most common fire door failure. Usually a closer, hinge, latch or alignment issue.
Fire doors only protect people when every part of the assembly works: the door, frame, label, hinges, closer and latching hardware. Our fire-door certified technicians inspect, document and repair fire door assemblies to NFPA 80.

NFPA 80, the Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives, calls for swinging fire door assemblies to be inspected and tested at least annually, with the results documented. Healthcare facilities, senior living communities, schools and other occupancies are routinely asked to show those records to fire marshals, accreditors and insurers.
We perform the inspection, give you a clear written list of what passed and what didn’t, and repair the deficiencies: closers that don’t close and latch, missing or painted-over labels, excessive clearances, damaged doors and frames, and non-compliant hardware. See our stairwell fire door inspection at Butterfield Trails Village in Fayetteville, documented floor by floor.
We also repair and install hollow metal doors and frames, including fire escape and emergency exit doors, mechanical room and stairwell doors, and service doors. Damaged doors can often be repaired instead of replaced: on our Butterfield Trails hollow metal repairs, the doors were re-welded, fitted with backer plates, filled and painted.

Clearances outside NFPA 80 limits, often from sagging hinges or a damaged frame.
Labels must be legible. We identify the issue and advise on the options.
Holes, kick-down holders and non-rated hardware can void a fire rating.
